Warli art is an ancient Indian folk art tradition of painting of a Maharashtrian tribe called Warli. The Warli paintings essentially depict the basic principles of life which are the main theme or basis of any tribe. Warli paintings are painted white on mud walls. The most important aspect of the painting is that it does not depicts mythological characters or images of deities, but depicts social life. Pictures of human beings and animals, along with scenes from daily life are created in a loose rhythmic pattern. The paintings are beautifully executed and resemble pre-historic cave paintings in execution and usually depict scenes of human figures engaged in activities like hunting, dancing, sowing, and harvesting.
